Solved Example:

Qn1) Pointing to a man in a photograph, a woman said “His brother’s father is the only son of     my grandfather”. How is the woman related to the man in the photograph?

Ans: c 

Explanation:

    A Man’s brother’s father means his father. And his father is the only son of women’s grandfather.    So the woman is the sister of the man in the photograph.

Qn2) Pointing to a  lady, a girl said “ she is the only one daughter- in-law of the grandmother of my father’s son”. How is that lady related to the girl?

a) Sister-in-law              b) Mother               c) Niece                d) Mother-in-law

Let’s find out the answer by analyzing the last portion . ‘My father’s son’, which means girls brother. ‘Grandmother of my father’s son’, which means her brother’s grandmother, that is her grandmother. ‘Only one daughter- in-law of the grandmother of my father’s son’, means her mother.

Qn3) Showing a lady in the park, Kumar said, “she is the daughter of my grandmother’s only son” . How is Kumar related to that lady?

Let’s use backtracking technique which we apply on the previous question. ‘grandmother’s only son’ means Kumar’s father. ‘she is the daughter of my grandmother’s only son’ that is that lady is Kumar’s father’s daughter. Thus Kumar is brother of that lady.

Qn4) Showing the prize receiving man  sini said “ he is the brother of my uncle’s daughter” . Who is the man to sini?
